Alright, more "planet-sized moon revolving around a gas giant" questions.

How would the orbits of the other moons look like? Would you see them if they weren't huge? Would it look kind of like how Venus and Mars look from earth (they tell me that you can see other planets with the naked eye, but I can only pick those two out).

I'm just having trouble wrapping my head around it. I know you can wave away a lot of technical stuff, I'm just curious.

Given that both Ganymede and Titan are larger than Mercury (though have less mass),
I'd look for your answers based on those two. Titan orbits relatively close to Saturn, so I think that it would rather easy to see.

Peculiar properties of spacetime ensure that the perception of the magnitude of Soon is fluid and dependent, not on an individual's time-reference, but on spatial and cultural location. A marketer generally perceives Soon as a finite, known, yet unspeakable time-interval; to a fan, the interval appears greater, and may in fact approach the infinite, becoming Never. Once the interval has passed, however, a certain time-lensing effect seems to occur, and the time-interval becomes vanishingly small. We therefore see the strange result that the same fragment of spacetime may be observed, in quick succession, as Soon, Never, and All Too Quickly.

Is there such a thing as malware on android devices? I was looking around on their app store and saw this. The screen shots are from the old Battletech game for the Sega Genesis. The description looks like it was copied and pasted by someone with bad english, calling Mechs 'Robert'.

But take a look at the permissions. Track my position, full network access, read my contacts, why would a simple game about Robert need such things? It looks like it wants to add my tablet to its botnet, so is android malware a thing or am I just being paranoid?

Yes, there is. There's a lot of malware written for android devices. Normally, the app store will filter them out, but with so many apps it's inevitable one slips through the cracks.

Most malware comes from third party sites, though.

There's apparently a surprisingly large amount of malware for mobile devices- because when was the last time you installed antivirus on your phone? They're fairly insecure.

Like so

Also, if it wants position, network, and contact information for no legitimate reason it is spyware, even if it doesn't do anything else malicious.

I think I'm not communicating well, allow me to elaborate.

Let's say you were standing on Titan. Let's also assume that Titan has an earth-like atmosphere where on most nights you can see the stars.

How would Tethys or Dione look? More specifically, how would their orbits look? (Both of them are closer to Saturn than Titan). How about Iapetus which is farther out?

I'm wondering if they'd be like dots in the sky, or if they'd be visible like Earth's moon.

EDIT: Also, pretend there's no rings. The planet in my world is closer to an ignited Jupiter than Saturn (which in my world is a desert world filled with sandworms.

Depends how big they are, and how close they get (radius/distance). Also, do you have telescopes, because holy fuck they make a difference.

Moon, ours, is 0.0045, which is huge (and also not very big at all). Tethys, at best, is 0.0011 from Titan, which is smaller, but 1/4 moon radius is still a very obvious disk. Dione gets to 0.0013. Rhea is about half Moon size, down to Mimas at 1/10th the apparent Moon radius.

One-tenth the Moon is still just disk-like to anyone with good eyes. Compare to Mars from here, which is 1/100th the size of the Moon, at best, which only happens once a year or so, or Jupiter which is 1/40th the size of the Moon (but much less bright by area too, and you can still see it's disk, some banding, and it's bigger moons with a small hand-held telescope from here).

Does anyone here live in or around the island of Sicily? I ask because my paternal great-grandparnets came from there, and I am interested in visiting/learning about the town they came from.

The town is Saint Catrina Villa Mosa (I'm fairly certain I'm getting the spelling wrong). Anyone know about it?

https://www.google.com/search?q=Santa+C ... Villarmosa

Check also google maps with street view, the various youtube clips, google earth for a flyover, and throw the local pages at google translate.

http://sicilia.indettaglio.it/eng/provi ... rovcl.html

That's the regional tourist brochure. Including Santa Catarina's rock preserve, which is a hill.
http://sicilia.indettaglio.it/eng/comun ... rismo.html

I'm guessing there's nothing about it because it's really fucking boring. Not to be impolite, so's my town, which also has nothing on the internet. Just is what it is.

Ah, thanks, one and all.

Fun fact: My paternal family name is Stella, and Santa Caterina Villarmosa is where they come from. Apparently, the people there really don't like the Stellas, because one of my great-granduncle's or something used to own some land there, and when he died, he willed it to my great-grandfather, who had moved to America. He never claimed the land, and so the people of Santa Caterina basically took it for their own uses. So, when a couple of relatives went to visit there one time, the enitre village gave them a frosty reception because they thought that they were going to try and reclaim the land, which is really nothing more than a semi-glorified set of town houses.

Unfortunately, I am not the "right people". Otherwise, I'd be drowning in liquid green mounds of money, because it's hard to swim in liquified currency.

So, on wednesday I met a cute girl while working at my local post-secondary campus. She and I were selling "cake pops" (brownie-like cake balls covered in chocolate and sometimes with sprinkles and shit) and cookies on sticks.

Anyway, we seemed to both have a good time shooting the shit as we went about things. She starts asking what my plans for Valentine's Day are, along with my dating status I guess. She and I both apparently lacked any plans, but I did tell her the bar I was going to and whatever. She ends up having to leave before I'm back from lunch, so I didn't actually ask her if she wanted to join me or anything. Next day (VD) she finds my isolated as fuck table on camus and brings me one of those candy-gram things from herself.

I'm tempted to see if I can find her again and get her number, but I don't know if I'm reading too much into it. Just being friendly, or interested?

Also, I was one snazzy motherfucker on Valentine's Day. Management demanded I dress up, so I did. Black dress shirt, pants and suspenders and cleanly shaven. Half the people didn't recognize me and the rest (mainly managers) sort of gaped. "All you're missing is a blackjack table," said one. Suspenders and a done up collar certainly do wonders for my posture; haven't stood that straight in ages.

I say find her and ask. Certainly more of a sign than I've been getting from the girl I met in an English class I was trying to get into this semester. We talked to each other in class, I asked her to coffee another day and we sat and talked, we've been keeping in touch. I asked if she wanted to give D&D a shot, and she very enthusiastically accepted my invitation to join my group, but later pulled out due to work load. She's been tetchy (monthly female hormone thing, by her own statement, I'm not assuming here) lately, so it's thrown me a bit, but she seems interested. I'm going to actually ask her out next time she's online, but I've been growing less and less confident in my reading of her interest.

I would consider a personal Valentine's card to be a sign of interest, yes.

By personal, I mean not identical to ones she was handing out to tons of other people.
